Described by the Lonely Planet as not just the best museum in Ireland, but one of the best in Europe, the Chester Beatty Library, Dublin is an art museum and library which houses the great collection of manuscripts, miniature paintings, prints, drawings, rare books and some decorative arts assembled by Sir Alfred Chester Beatty (1875-1968). The Dublin Architecture Space or darc space was established in autumn 2009. It opened on Friday October 9th 2009 with the launch of its first exhibition ‘Becoming’. The launch was part of the Irish Architecture Foundation’s ‘Open House Weekend’ and the exhibition and the new gallery were part of that weekend’s celebration of architecture in the city. The new gallery is intended to fill a void, there is currently no dedicated architecture gallery in Ireland. The aims of the gallery are: • To promote an innovative and energy-efficient architecture, • To advocate new possibilities for the building industry and • To intensify the debate about the future of the built environment in Ireland.

The subject matter ranges from architecture to urban design through to landscape. The connecting themes of environment and sustainability will be a common thread through these varied disciplines.

Located in Dublin's city centre, Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane, originally called The Municipal Gallery of Modern Art, houses one of Ireland's foremost collections of modern and contemporary art. The original collection, donated by the Gallery's founder Sir Hugh Lane in 1908, has now grown to include over 2000 artworks, ranging from the Impressionist masterpieces of Manet, Monet, Renoir and Degas to works by leading national and international contemporary artists. The Gallery presents dynamic schedules of temporary exhibitions, seminars and public lectures, publications and educational projects.

Dublin City Council is promoting mainstream Sport and Recreation amongst all the citizens of Dublin, by providing a range of activities aimed at getting people more physically active. Dublin Zoo opened its doors on September 1, 1830. Founded as a private society by anatomists and physicists and supported by wealthy subscribers. In 1840, featuring 46 mammals and 72 birds donated by London Zoo, the radical decision was to throw its gates open to the public for a penny on Sundays. This gesture, remarkable for that time, established the affectionate relationship that still exists between Dubliners and the ‘ah-Zoo’ in the Phoenix Park. Now, utterly transformed, Dublin Zoo’s 28 hectares is attracting almost 1 million visitors a year. Officially Ireland’s biggest family attraction, not only offers a great day out for all, but also a journey of learning and discovery about the world’s precious wildlife. Animals at Dublin Zoo live enriched lives in natural social groups, they are fit and healthy, able to breed and raise their own young. They can be observed in naturalistic spaces with vegetation, substrate and water features that reflects their native habitat. Dublin Zoo is managed by caring zoo professionals who devote their lives to the welfare and care of animals and to understanding their needs. Since its inception in 1978 the Gallery of Photography has become Ireland's premier venue for photography. It has staged exhibitions with many of the major names in contemporary photography. The Gallery moved to its new location, a purpose built space with fully fitted darkrooms and digital imaging facilities in Meeting House Square in 1995.

The Gallery, which is non-profit making, is funded by the Arts Council and Dublin Corporation. However the cost of maintaining standards continues to rise. The Gallery relies on sponsorship and support from members to help fund its activities.

Strategically located at the heart of Shanghai’s central business district, the Irish Centre is the latest Corporate Social Responsibility initiative from Treasury China Trust (TCT), joining its existing philanthropic endeavours through the TCT Foundation for the Children of China (TCT Foundation) and its commitment to sustainable development as recognized by its achievement as Asia’s first real estate company to secure a Carbon Neutral rating. Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB) is the national development agency for the Irish film industry investing in talent, creativity and enterprise. The agency supports and promotes the Irish film industry and the use of Ireland as a location for international production.

The IFB was reconstituted in April 1993 under the Film Board Act 1980, and was amended in 1993, 1997, 2000 and 2006.
